Faction Secret Services

To all Active Members

In this day most Nations have their Secret Service. While some deal with internal security, secret police ect, others deal with intelligence gathering and activity. Based upon this a proposal for your consideration and comments:
Player factions have, if they so wish, the option of creating as a seperate higher authority an intelligence agency. Commanded by its faction Government it should contain characters of good reputation who have proved themselves worthy Forum Members and Game players with a history of honesty and fair play.
Possible awarded by admin such agencies may have access to high levels of technology and equipment to be used for the gathering of information on any enemy faction. Such agencies may also have secure Forum section only accesible by their members in order that their intelligence activity is kept as secret as they wish.
There is a lot to think about here and role play rules would be just one topic.

So your thoughts please. I will put more of my thoughts down in this forum depending upon the response.

Well, it seems that Bretonia (BIS), Gallia (MIE) and Liberty (LSF) already have their secret services.

And as we discussed about it with Gunner, the associated IDs will be given by admins only to really good RPers and really fair players. Indeed, as The Threat is supposed to become a RP server, no way to see a player (beginner) crossing a system and firing on all what moves. Not really what we could imagine about a "Secret" Service.

If I remember correctly, you had made a draft of what could be rules about this, am I wrong?

Intelligence Service ID Rules - A Suggestion.

Listed below are my ideas for the Intelligence Services ID. I invite comment and additional suggestions.

In essence a faction member character requests the IS ID to Admin. The request should state why the role of IS is required and may bare a resemblance to the special operative ID from War Zone (Stating the parameters the character would operate in). If he/she is of a proven trouble free character and Admin feels that that the integrity is satisfactory the ID may be granted. The individual creates a new character for the role, then admin changes the ID and places the new IS character in the faction IS base in a HF. The character then performs Intelligence activities for his faction that may include, recce, escort, surveillance or singular assassination (see note below). The player is free to change his ship at base for the role he is performing. Each ship may cost the same both for selling and buying hence is cost neutral. Added equipment is cost variable. This allows the player a measure of calculation for his mission. The position is an elite one hence the need for outstanding integrity. Contravention of rules or operating outside the stated purpose removes the privilege. Outline rules are:


1. May require faction backing as the IS ID has no credit earning ability so may require the financial support from a Faction if the player is not financially secure.
2. Request made stating character operating parameters.
3. Awarded by Admin only.
4. Individual applicant must have a proven FL character of honest and stable RP and clear of any admin warnings for at least 2 months.
5. Only the following ships allowed (within faction fleet)
a. Light Fighter Camera equipped for photo recce. (not sure if possible)
b. HF for escort or long range recce.
c. VHF for long range recce or pre-emptive assassination strikes (see note 1)
d. Cloaks should be inclusive of all ships.
e. No other vessels allowed with this ID.
6. Once granted the ID and access to the Home base the character should be allowed any ship at any time at no cost (right tool available for the right task). (Again not sure if this is possible)
7. Contravention of rules or operating outside stated character operating principles removes the privilege.



Note 1: Assassinations should be pre-planned and logged with admin before the strike to prove the integrity of the action.
